The Male’ City Council has successfully completed the renovation of 45 mosques across the capital city and expanded cemetery capacities over the past six months. According to the council, these efforts are part of a continuous initiative to upgrade public facilities and maintain religious sites.

The renovation work involved a comprehensive range of repairs, including resolving electrical faults, repainting mosque structures, and refurbishing restroom facilities. The council noted that various other improvements were also implemented to ensure the comfort and safety of worshippers during this period.

In addition to mosque maintenance, the council has addressed the growing concern of burial space within the city. To manage this, 17,255 square feet of land was added to the Hulhumale’ cemetery. Furthermore, space optimization projects were carried out at the Machchangolhi cemetery to accommodate more burials as existing grounds reached capacity.

The council also highlighted its dedicated service for the respectful disposal of aged copies of the Holy Quran and other religious texts. To facilitate this, the council has established a recurring system every six months, allowing households and various institutions to hand over such materials for disposal in accordance with Islamic principles.
