Land Reclamation Begins for New Airport Development in Th. Guraidhoo
MTCC has commenced land reclamation work for the planned airport development project in Th. Guraidhoo, according to a statement released by the company today.
The company announced that alongside the reclamation work, coastal protection measures will also be implemented as part of the project.
According to MTCC, the project scope includes:
• Reclamation of 13.8 hectares of land
• Installation of rock revetment across 979 meters
• Installation of geobag revetment across 609 meters
The project, valued at MVR 106.02 million, is expected to bring significant economic and social benefits to the entire Th. Atoll once completed.
MTCC stated that the new airport will boost tourism development in Th. Atoll and improve the overall quality of life for local residents. The company emphasized that the project will create numerous opportunities and conveniences for the communities throughout the atoll.
