The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the decision to appoint Abdulla Jameel Moosa as the Chief Judge of the High Court of the Maldives. This resolution follows a formal recruitment process initiated last month to fill the leadership vacancy within the court.

In a statement released today, the JSC confirmed that Moosa was selected as the most qualified candidate following a series of interviews. Moosa, an alumnus of Kulliyathul Dhiraasathul Islamiyya where he obtained a Bachelor of Shariah and Law (Honours), brings over 16 years of judicial expertise to the position.

His career in the judiciary began at the Laamu Dhanbidhoo Magistrate Court, where he served from September 2003 until January 2009. He subsequently served as a Judge at the Civil Court for a decade, from February 2009 to February 2019. Abdulla Jameel Moosa was most recently appointed to the High Court bench on September 3 last year.
