India Donates Arogya Maitri Health Cube to Strengthen Emergency Medical Response in Maldives

India has donated an Arogya Maitri Health Cube to the Maldives to enhance emergency medical response capabilities. The handover ceremony took place at Sultan Park during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to the Maldives today.

The Arogya Maitri Health Cube is the world’s first portable hospital of its kind, designed to be easily transported between locations. The facility is equipped with an ICU, operating theater, power generator, blood testing equipment, and X-ray machines.

According to the Health Ministry, the medical cube can operate continuously for 72 hours and has the capacity to treat up to 200 patients. It is specifically designed to provide high-quality emergency medical services during mass casualty incidents.

The portable facility requires only 12 minutes for complete setup and deployment. It contains various emergency kits, medicines, and necessary equipment for different medical scenarios. The cube can be monitored and managed through the “Bhishm App,” which tracks inventory and provides real-time information about the mini-cubes.

The Maldives Emergency Medical Service (EMS), operating under the Health Ministry, will manage the two portable cubes donated by India. The Indian government has already conducted training programs for EMS staff on operating the Arogya Maitri Health Cube.
