Member of Parliament for Baarashu, Ibrahim Shujau, has announced that the government has initiated efforts to accelerate the pace of development projects across his constituency. The announcement follows a high-level meeting between the MP and the senior leadership of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
During the meeting with MTCC’s CEO and project teams, Shujau was assured that an additional team would be dispatched to Baarashu shortly to expedite ongoing work on the local mosque, the police station, and shore protection efforts. These projects are being handled by MTCC to ensure long-term stability for the island’s coastal areas.
Furthermore, updates were provided regarding infrastructure in other islands within the atoll. The MP confirmed that rock boulders required for the Muraidhoo harbor project will be delivered soon, and MTCC has pledged to implement changes that will result in visible progress for the residents. Additionally, teams are scheduled to mobilize for shore protection and harbor expansion in Utheemu, as well as the commencement of the Thakandhoo harbor project.
MP Shujau expressed his commitment to fulfilling the development pledges made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, stating that with the support of the public, the administration is dedicated to delivering these essential services at an increased speed.
