A fire broke out in a residential building in K. Huraa during the early hours of Monday, April 13, 2026. The property was reportedly home to 15 individuals at the time of the incident.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the emergency was reported at approximately 01:18 AM. Collaborative efforts between police officers and local residents successfully brought the blaze under control and extinguished it completely.

While no physical injuries were reported among the occupants, a Maldivian woman suffered psychological distress as a result of the incident. She initially received treatment at the K. Huraa Health Center before being transferred to Male’ for further medical care.

The building and personal property within the residence sustained varying degrees of damage. The Maldives Police Service has confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
