The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced a significant closure of Boduthakurufaanu Magu and its adjacent harbor area, effective immediately. The restricted zone, stretching from Fishermen’s Park to the Bank of Maldives (BML) head office, is expected to remain closed until July 4, 2026.

According to a statement released by MTCC, the closure is necessary to facilitate critical sheet piling work. This infrastructure phase covers segments one, two, and four of the ongoing road development project. All preparations for the sheet piling process have been completed, and work is slated to begin as per the project schedule.

In light of these developments, MTCC has issued an urgent notice to vessel owners. All boats and launches currently docked within the affected harbor area must be relocated immediately to ensure that construction activities are not obstructed. The company emphasized that clearing the harbor is vital for the safety and efficiency of the operations.
