A nine-year-old girl is in critical condition following a serious road accident near the Vinares flats in Hulhumalé Phase 2 on Friday night.

The incident occurred on Hithigas Magu when a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian who was reportedly attempting to enter a car parked near Vinares Tower 7. Preliminary investigations, including a review of CCTV footage by the Maldives Police Service, indicate that the motorcycle struck the individual as it was traveling along the road.

The victims of the accident have been identified as an 18-year-old Maldivian woman, who was operating the motorcycle, and a nine-year-old Maldivian girl, who was a passenger on the vehicle. Both were immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency medical intervention.

While both individuals are receiving treatment, police confirmed that the nine-year-old child sustained severe injuries and significant blood loss, leaving her in critical condition. The Maldives Police Service is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
