The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has announced that over 58,000 applications were submitted through the government portal for land plots and apartments in the Male’ region by the final deadline.

According to the latest statistics released by the Ministry, a total of 58,505 applications were received. Flats saw the highest demand, with 35,930 applicants, while 22,575 individuals applied for land plots.

The housing project, which initially opened for applications in January this year, saw its deadline extended several times following public requests. Although the final deadline was set for midnight on June 15, technical issues with the online portal led to a further extension until 2:00 AM that night to accommodate all submissions.

Under the current government policy, a total of 15,000 land plots are slated for distribution from the Male’ area and the newly reclaimed Rasmalé. Of these, 10,000 plots are reserved exclusively for Male’ residents, while the remaining plots are allocated for islanders residing in the capital, individuals living in cramped conditions, and other designated special categories.

Additionally, the government intends to issue 7,900 apartments. This includes 4,000 flats reserved for Male’ residents, 1,500 for islanders, and 2,400 for specific priority categories as part of the broader urban development initiative.
