The Maldives Criminal Court has ordered the remand of a 46-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. The suspect has been identified as Fathimath Shifana Rasheed, a resident of Ma. Enboomage in the capital, Male’.

According to the court order issued on Tuesday, Shifana has been remanded in custody for a period of five days. The presiding judge determined that her continued detention is necessary for the safety of the community, citing her status as a threat to public security.

The court noted that the suspect’s urine sample tested positive for illicit substances. Furthermore, the remand order highlighted that Shifana has confessed to the crimes. It was also revealed that she has a prior criminal record involving multiple arrests and previous detentions.
