The Maldives Zakat House has officially announced an extension for the application period of its higher education scholarship program. Initially set to conclude today, the deadline has been shifted to August 16, 2026, to provide prospective students with additional time to complete their submissions.

This year’s scholarship program offers a total of 40 opportunities for Maldivian students seeking to pursue Masters and PhD level qualifications. The allocation includes 10 scholarships for local studies and 20 for international programs. Furthermore, five stipends are designated for students currently enrolled in universities in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, while another five slots are specifically reserved for training female doctors in fields related to women’s health.

In addition to traditional Islamic studies, the Zakat House is accepting proposals for scholarships in other academic disciplines. Applicants applying for these fields must submit a proposal clearly outlining how their chosen area of study will contribute to the progress and development of the Maldivian Islamic community.
