The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a white alert spanning from Haa Alif Atoll to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, forecasting adverse weather conditions across a significant portion of the archipelago. The alert remains in effect from 14:00 to 20:00 today.

According to the national weather office, the region is expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Wind speeds are anticipated to intensify, with gusts reaching up to 40 miles per hour during squalls.

In response to the deteriorating weather, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has urged seafarers to exercise extreme caution. Authorities have advised all maritime travelers to ensure all safety measures are in place and to refrain from non-essential travel until conditions improve.
