The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has issued a white alert for the region spanning from Kaafu Atoll to Dhaalu Atoll, forecasting a significant deterioration in weather conditions.

According to the national weather agency, the alert is in effect from 06:30 AM to 12:00 PM today. During this period, the affected areas are expected to experience sustained wind speeds between 19 and 24 miles per hour, with gusts potentially reaching 40 miles per hour. Consequently, sea conditions are predicted to be rough across these central atolls.

Authorities, including the MET Office and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), have urged seafarers to exercise extreme caution. Travelers are advised to adhere strictly to safety protocols and to postpone non-essential maritime travel until weather conditions improve.
