In this world, there is one thing that parents do not need to teach their children with any effort: the love of the Quran. In the upbringing of two siblings, the elder sister and younger brother were a great help and support to each other. Parents must guide these two siblings to become devout children who love the religion. The guidance of these two Hafizah reciters is a blessing that came to both of them.

Hussein, 35, and Hassan are currently in the process of fulfilling that blessing for their mother and father. They are the two Hafizahs whom their parents later guided. They completed their memorization after revising the entire Quran.

The two siblings began memorizing the Quran at O Level at Majeediyya School. There, in every Quranic competition they participated in, the two siblings achieved high ranks. After passing O Level, Hussein immediately began memorizing the Quran.

Now, 17-year-old Hassan and Hussein’s mother and father also want the two siblings to memorize the Quran together. They began memorizing the Quran in 2010 when they went to Madinah. The goal was to fulfill their parents’ blessing.

At A Level as well, these two siblings achieved high ranks. Hussein achieved first place from across the country, while Hassan achieved second place.

“I received the President’s Special Scholarship. Hassan received a scholarship from Madinah University. So, I exchanged the scholarship I received to study in Madinah. Both of them were together. They studied Hadith knowledge,” Hussein said.

In their first year in Madinah, both of them also completed memorizing the Quran. As a result, the younger brother improved greatly and began to surpass his elder brother in completing courses. They did not complete courses together, and the one who surpassed him was even more important to him. After that, there was no way for the two of them to be separated.

“We did not intend to achieve the status of Hafiz. That was not our original aim. Memorizing was more important than the status.”

After memorizing the Quran together, they were encouraged, and a child who greatly admires them was inspired to memorize the Quran.

“After this, a child who admires us very much began memorizing at a very young age. Not this year, last year, in 2024, Bilal memorized. Every day, a part must be recited to the ministry. Bilal also comes to the ministry every day to recite one part to us [Hussein and Hassan],” Hussein said.

“Previously, we also had memorized the Quran, so we must recite to the ministry from memory. That child, filled with love for the Quran, also began to memorize last year.”

Along with Bilal’s admiration, the goal is to pass on that status which is more important than anything else in this world to these individuals. In that endeavor, they have previously won first place in the competition at the Islamic University’s Muraaja’ah Club.

It took the two siblings three months to achieve this. The status of becoming a Hafiz after reciting the entire Quran has now been achieved.

“While the younger brother was studying, it was very pleasing to fulfill that blessing for the parents. The elder sister also has a blessing. In every Quranic competition and in everything, the elder sister is also present,” Hussein said.

“What is most pleasing is the success of fulfilling that blessing.”

The reason both of them memorized together is the relationship between the two. Even when applying for O Level, it is seen that when the two of them memorize the Quran in a way that supports each other, they achieve results together.

In the process of one surpassing the other, what was gained from each other’s company was love.

“Even after marriage, they will recite to each other. Even before going to the Hafiz competition, they recite to each other. Even now, after applying, they still recite to each other; that is also the love between the two of them,” Hussein said.

Hussein and Hassan believe that with the good prayers of parents and the love of children and tireless effort, anything can be accomplished. What the two siblings showed was that example. What the parents passed on to these two siblings was the status most needed in this world. That is the greatest gift these two individuals will receive.
