The Korea Customs Service (KCS) announced Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with India’s Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs to strengthen bilateral customs cooperation and streamline mutual trade.

During a meeting held Tuesday in New Delhi, South Korean delegates urged the Indian government to assist in ensuring seamless customs clearance for Korean enterprises. To highlight current obstacles, the KCS presented specific examples of customs-related difficulties experienced by Korean companies operating in India.

In addition to resolving trade bottlenecks, the two agencies explored broader collaborative efforts, including the development of joint training programs.

Highlighting the significance of the partnership in a press release, Han Min, the director general for international affairs at the KCS, stated, “With India being a major partner in the Asia-Pacific region, the two countries intend to bolster cooperation down the road to address hurdles faced by Korean firms seeking to export to India.”
