The Foreign Minister of Seychelles, Barry Faure, arrived in the Maldives today for an official visit. This historic trip marks the first time a Foreign Minister from the Republic of Seychelles has undertaken an official visit to the Maldives.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Minister Faure’s visit follows a formal invitation from the Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Iritishâm Adam. Upon his arrival at the airport, the Minister was received by Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya and other senior officials from the Ministry.

During his stay, Minister Faure is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with Minister Iritishâm Adam. The talks will focus on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in key sectors of mutual interest to both island nations. The Ministry stated that this visit underscores the Maldives’ ongoing commitment to enhancing diplomatic relations with fellow small island developing states (SIDS).
