Lh. Maafilaafushi – The second cohort selected for the National Service Initial Training programme departed today for Lh. Maafilaafushi. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has confirmed that a total of 350 students, originating from 112 islands across the Maldives, are participating in the three-month programme.

This latest batch consists of 286 male students and 64 female students. The comprehensive training is scheduled to take place at the MNDF Composite Training Centre, situated on Maafilaafushi island.

Programme Objectives

The “Dhiveshi Vathanee Hidhumaiy” (Maldivian National Service) programme was initiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. Its primary objectives include fostering Maldivian citizens who exhibit patriotism, adhere to Islamic principles, and are responsible. The initiative also aims to cultivate a physically, spiritually, and mentally healthy young generation, promoting diligence, good character, and resilience among participants.

Certifications Upon Completion

Upon the successful conclusion of the training, participants will be awarded a certificate of completion. In addition, they will receive a Civil Education and Leadership Certificate (equivalent to Certificate 3), a Community Volunteer Firefighter certificate, a Basic First Aid certificate, and a Peer Education Training Programme completion certificate.

Update on First Batch

The inaugural batch of the Dhiveshi Vathanee Hidhumaiy programme comprised 340 students. Following their initial training, 66 students from this cohort are currently undertaking specialised technical training at the military centre located in B. Kihadhoo.
