The Maldivian government has announced its commitment to expanding the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry network to every inhabited island across the nation by the end of January next year.

The decision was finalized during a Cabinet meeting held yesterday, where ministers resolved to prioritize the administrative and logistical frameworks necessary to complete the nationwide rollout within the stipulated deadline.

The RTL high-speed ferry service first launched in the northern atolls in 2022 and has since expanded to a significant portion of the country, with Laamu Atoll being the most recent addition. The final phase of the expansion will focus on establishing connectivity in Meemu, Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaal, and Vaavu Atolls.
