The Maldives Zakat House announced today the distribution of MVR 6,000 per individual as Fitr Zakat for the month of Ramadan, 1447 Hijri, to those registered in the national registry of the poor and needy. This distribution marks the highest amount ever equally disbursed per individual in the Maldives’ history for Fitr Zakat.

Among the beneficiaries are 62 poor orphans, who were included under the eligible categories for Zakat recipients, the Zakat House confirmed. The total Fitr Zakat collected this year has exceeded MVR 14 million, also setting a new record for the highest amount ever received. Of this collected sum, MVR 13.8 million has been earmarked specifically for distribution to the poor and needy.

To facilitate collections, seven online portals were made available for paying Fitr Zakat this year. Additionally, arrangements were made for individuals who faced difficulties with online payments to contribute their Zakat in cash, ensuring accessibility for all.
