The President’s Office has successfully processed and responded to all pending Right to Information (RTI) requests submitted to the institution, fulfilling a major transparency pledge made by the current administration. The announcement was made by the Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, during a press conference held on Wednesday.

According to Shareef, all requests received up until yesterday have been addressed, with the exception of specific cases involving national security concerns or legally protected personal data. He emphasized that the government remains committed to disclosing information within the bounds of the law while ensuring that sensitive information is handled with the necessary caution.

This initiative aligns with the vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who had previously pledged to establish a more transparent and accountable governance system. The President’s goal is to streamline public access to government data and foster a culture of openness across all state institutions.

In addition to clearing the RTI backlog, the Spokesperson noted that the government is actively encouraging other ministries and state agencies to proactively publish information on their respective websites. This ongoing effort is being closely monitored in collaboration with the Information Commissioner’s Office to ensure compliance with the Right to Information Act.
