President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has restructured the special ministerial committee tasked with mitigating the impacts of the ongoing Middle East conflict on the Maldives. The changes follow a cabinet reshuffle conducted by the administration earlier this week.

The committee was initially established on February 28, following the escalation of regional hostilities. Its primary mandate is to address and resolve potential economic and logistical challenges the Maldives may encounter as a result of the geopolitical instability involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

According to the President’s Office, the newly reconstituted committee comprises key cabinet members responsible for the nation’s most critical sectors. This strategic alignment aims to ensure a coordinated governmental response to any external shocks arising from the conflict.

The newly appointed members of the committee are Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer, Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam, and Minister of Tourism Mohamed Ameen.
