The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) is scheduled to conclude its extensive nationwide campaign this afternoon with a major event titled the ‘People’s Grand Walk.’ President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is confirmed to participate in the march, marking the culmination of the party’s political activities.
According to the PNC, the walk will commence today at 4:00 PM, starting from the party’s main headquarters. This gathering serves as the final highlight of an intensive two-month political campaign conducted by the ruling party across the Maldives. The PNC leadership has extended an open invitation to the general public and supporters to join this historic event.
The campaign finale precedes a significant triple-vote scheduled for this coming Saturday. Citizens will cast ballots for Local Council elections and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections. Additionally, a nationwide referendum will be held to gauge public opinion on synchronizing presidential and parliamentary elections to occur on the same day.
The PNC has fielded the highest number of candidates in this election cycle for both the Local Councils and WDC. Notably, the party has already secured several seats prior to the polls as their candidates stood unopposed in multiple constituencies.
