President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially extended his condolences to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, following a devastating coal mine explosion in Shanxi Province. The incident, which occurred last Friday, has been identified as one of the most severe mining disasters in recent history.

In his formal message, President Muizzu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and the significant number of injuries resulting from the blast. Official reports indicate that the death toll has tragically exceeded 80 individuals.

On behalf of the government and the people of the Maldives, the President offered his sincerest sympathies to the bereaved families, the Chinese government, and its citizens. He further emphasized that the Maldives stands in firm solidarity with China during this period of national mourning.
