President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially established the ‘Greater Male’ Transport and Mobility Office,’ operating under the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade. The announcement was made through a directive issued by the President’s Office on Sunday.

The office was created as a strategic intervention to address escalating traffic congestion within the Greater Male’ region. It is tasked with developing and implementing comprehensive programs in collaboration with relevant authorities to streamline traffic flow and modernize the local transportation infrastructure.

The Greater Male’ Transport and Mobility Office will function under the guidance of a Governing Board. Its core mandate includes advising stakeholders on policies to manage the increasing number of vehicles on the roads, as well as spearheading the development of modern parking facilities and sustainable mobility solutions.

According to the President’s Office, all official correspondence directed to the new agency should use the designated office number 1142, as per the official directive number 2026/13.
