President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Aminath Fazna, the first Maldivian doctor specialized in diagnosing autism, following her passing on Tuesday.

Dr. Fazna, aged 47, passed away while undergoing treatment for cancer. She was a prominent developmental pediatrician recognized for her pioneering efforts in the identification and treatment of developmental disorders within the Maldives.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, President Muizzu expressed his deepest sympathies to Dr. Fazna’s family, her colleagues at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Dharumavantha Hospital, as well as the broader medical community. The President also prayed that Allah grant her eternal peace in Jannah.

Dr. Fazna achieved her specialized training from the National University of Malaysia and the University of California, USA. She began her tenure as a developmental pediatrician at IGMH in 2024, where she was highly regarded for her expertise in conducting comprehensive diagnostic assessments for autism, ADHD, and various other developmental conditions.
