President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed three distinguished former state officials to the position of Ambassador at Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These appointments are part of the administration’s strategic efforts to advance the Maldives’ foreign policy objectives by utilizing the expertise of seasoned public servants.

The newly appointed officials include Adam Shareef Umar, former Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works; Thoriq Ibrahim, former Minister of Tourism; and Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed, a prominent legal expert who made history as the first female Secretary-General of SAARC. The appointments were confirmed by Mohamed Hussain Shareef, the Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, during a briefing with MMTV.

Both Adam Shareef Umar and Thoriq Ibrahim were among the ten cabinet ministers who resigned on the 14th of this month to facilitate administrative restructuring under President Muizzu’s vision for the government. Dhiyana Saeed also brings significant experience to the role, having previously served as the Attorney General during the administration of former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.
