The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has officially announced that its main hub will serve as a venue for public screenings of all FIFA World Cup matches. According to a statement released by the PNC Secretariat, the tournament will be broadcast live at the Congress Party Jagaha located in H. Veyovila.

Social media accounts affiliated with the party and fan pages of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu have been actively promoting the initiative, inviting the public to witness the global sporting event. Football holds a prestigious status in the Maldives, where the World Cup is traditionally celebrated with the fervor of a national festival, often referred to locally as the ‘Football Eid.’

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has previously shared his personal enthusiasm for the tournament, revealing himself to be a lifelong supporter of the Argentina national team. The President noted that his admiration for the team dates back to the era of the legendary Diego Maradona. He further stated that in the event of Argentina’s exit from the competition, his secondary preference would be for England to secure the title.
