Dr. Mohamed Faizal, the Secretary General of the National Pay Commission, has officially resigned from his position. Sources confirm that the resignation was tendered yesterday, although the specific reasons for his departure have not yet been made public.

His resignation comes at a pivotal time for the commission. Earlier this week, the Ministry of Finance disclosed that the commission has completed approximately 93 percent of the work required to harmonize public sector salaries. The Ministry had further instructed the body to expedite and finalize the remaining tasks in the near future.

The National Pay Commission is a five-member regulatory body. It is chaired by the Minister of Finance, while the additional members are appointed directly by the President of the Maldives.
