The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has announced that MVR 12.7 million was expended on therapeutic treatments for persons with disabilities during the month of May. According to the latest statistics released by the agency, a total of 14,525 individuals are currently registered on the national disability roster.

The expenditure primarily covered occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, and speech therapy services. Occupational therapy alone accounted for MVR 3 million of the total monthly spending. These services are vital components of the government’s social protection framework, ensuring accessible rehabilitation for those with special needs.

Statistical data indicates that the primary beneficiaries of these treatments were individuals under the age of 18, including 254 males and 106 females. Currently, there are 5,241 minors registered on the national disability database, highlighting a significant demographic requiring consistent therapeutic intervention.
