The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) disbursed MVR 15.2 million (Maldivian Rufiyaa) in financial assistance to single parents and their children across the Maldives last month. Statistics released by NSPA today indicate that a total of 2,974 single parents received aid, benefiting 3,066 children.

The agency reported that this financial support was extended to single mothers and fathers living in impoverished conditions. During the past month, 99 new single parents were registered for assistance, alongside 191 additional children.

Allowance Structure

The increase in the allowance for single parents, implemented by NSPA from last month, provides MVR 3,000 per child. However, the maximum payable amount is capped at MVR 12,000, applicable even for families with more than four children.
