The Maldives Police Service has officially inaugurated its new station in Hdh. Finey, marking a significant milestone in efforts to decentralize and enhance law enforcement services across the nation. The facility was formally opened during a ceremony held on Sunday.

Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed and the President of the Finey Council, Abdul Latheef Ali, jointy inaugurated the station. This project is part of a broader strategic initiative to improve the quality of policing and expand reach within local islands. The foundation stone for the facility was originally laid on August 28, 2025.

During the ceremony, police officials highlighted that the establishment of the Finey Police Station is a crucial step toward ensuring the safety and security of the island’s residents. The new infrastructure is expected to facilitate easier access to police services, strengthen law enforcement capabilities, and foster a closer relationship between the police and the community.

The Maldives Police Service further stated that the presence of a dedicated station will provide a more secure environment for the residents of Finey, bringing essential services directly to the island’s population.
