The Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture has announced the successful deployment of a new fish aggregating device (FAD) approximately six miles west of Fuvahmulah City.
Registered under the identification number Q09V01-02 01, the installation is expected to significantly boost the local fishing industry. The Ministry noted that this development will provide substantial benefits to the local fishing community, particularly targeting young fishermen and those involved in the growing sports fishing sector.
This initiative is a key component of the government’s strategic policy to modernize and enhance the productivity of the Maldives’ fisheries sector. The Ministry further confirmed that efforts are ongoing to install similar devices in various strategic locations across the country in the near future.
