MALÉ, Maldives – The Elections Commission (EC) has published the final voter list for the upcoming Local Council Elections, Women’s Development Committees (WDC) Elections, and a public opinion poll, all scheduled to take place on the 4th of next month.

A total of 299,876 individuals are officially eligible to cast their votes. The EC’s figures indicate that this includes 144,506 women and 150,370 men.

Election Overview

The elections are set to elect 1,356 members across 225 constituencies. To facilitate the voting process, the commission plans to establish a total of 588 ballot boxes. These will be deployed across various locations, including atolls, resorts, prisons, and the Malé area.

In terms of candidatures, 1,592 individuals are contesting seats in the Local Council Elections. For the Women’s Development Committees Elections, 1,368 candidates have put forward their names.
