The Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) has established a definitive timeline for higher education and training institutions to re-accredit their programs in accordance with newly implemented national standards.

In a formal announcement, the MQA emphasized that all previously approved programs must undergo a fresh accreditation process under the current “Program Accreditation Guideline.” The authority noted with concern that several institutions have yet to submit their existing programs for review, despite the ongoing enforcement of these regulations.

The MQA further revealed significant challenges in communicating with certain service providers. While the authority attempted to facilitate consultative meetings with institutions earlier this year, engagement levels remained low. Approximately 30 centers could not be reached through the official contact details, including phone numbers and email addresses, registered with the ministry.

All higher education institutions are now required to submit applications for any pending program accreditations by October 22, 2027. The MQA warned that any programs failing to meet this submission deadline will have their accreditation status revoked and will be deemed invalid for further instruction.
