President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced the government’s decision to establish a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility in Uthuru Thila Falhu. The initiative aims to rescue youth from drug addiction and criminal environments, transforming them into productive members of society.

Speaking on the “The Pulse” podcast, President Muizzu emphasized that the administration’s goal is to address the root causes of these social issues through a sustainable and holistic approach. He identified housing shortages and a lack of economic opportunities as the primary factors driving youth toward criminal activity.

The President highlighted that the new policy extends beyond medical treatment to include comprehensive social reform. This includes creating job opportunities, facilitating the launch of small businesses, and empowering women through home-based income initiatives. He also noted that strengthening the education and healthcare systems are critical steps in preventing youth from entering the criminal justice system.

Regarding the project’s financing, President Muizzu acknowledged that while the center requires a significant state investment, efforts to secure financial assistance are progressing successfully. He confirmed that the evaluation of proposals is nearing completion and assured the public that physical work will commence shortly, with tangible results expected within the current presidential term.
