Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, has expressed his satisfaction with the progress of council office construction projects currently being executed across the nation under contractor financing models.
Currently, 55 council buildings are under construction. The Minister is presently conducting a series of island visits to personally monitor the progress of these sites. In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Minister Shareef noted that these inspection tours have also provided an opportunity to further refine the internal organizational structures of the administrative bodies.
According to the Ministry, the construction work is moving forward rapidly and remains aligned with established timelines. Officials expect the projects to be finalized by July of this year.
The newly constructed offices are designed to meet modern standards and will be handed over to local councils as fully-furnished facilities. This includes the provision of all necessary office furniture, desks, chairs, and service counters to ensure immediate operational readiness.
