Minister of Construction Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has stated that while the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has created significant challenges for national development projects, the government has no intention of halting its infrastructure initiatives.

Speaking at a press conference, the Minister highlighted that the geopolitical tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran have triggered global economic instability. This situation has led to a surge in fuel prices and disruptions in the supply chain for essential construction materials.

Dr. Muththalib noted that projects requiring high fuel consumption, such as land reclamation and harbor development, have been particularly affected by the price hikes. However, he emphasized that the State Trading Organization (STO) is working diligently to ensure a continuous supply of materials to minimize the impact on the industry.

The Ministry’s current strategy involves implementing cost-reduction measures and adjusting project timelines rather than canceling them. The Minister reassured the public that the government remains committed to delivering its development agenda despite the current external economic pressures.
