Malé, Maldives – Minister of Cities, Administrative Divisions and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, has announced that the distribution of canned fish cases to households in the atolls will commence before the end of the current week. These cases are part of the government’s Ramadhan gift programme for the year 1447 AH.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Minister Shareef confirmed that logistical preparations for dispatching the canned fish cases to the atolls are currently underway. He reassured the public that all eligible households nationwide would receive the Ramadhan gift.

For the Malé area, 4,805 households had registered through the designated online portal as of late last night to collect their allocated cases. Distribution in the Malé region is scheduled to take place nightly from 20:00 to 23:00, with households able to book a collection slot via the portal link.

A total of 118,773 households nationwide are slated to receive a case of canned fish this year. This includes 61,755 households in the Malé area and 56,918 households in the atolls. This initiative follows a similar programme last Ramadhan, where the government distributed canned fish to every household, in line with a presidential pledge.
