The People’s Majlis has officially approved the appointment of Mariyam Midhfa Naeem as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The decision was confirmed during a parliamentary session on Monday with an overwhelming majority.

A total of 74 members voted in favor of Naeem’s appointment, reflecting strong parliamentary support for her new diplomatic role. Midhfa Naeem is a career diplomat with extensive experience within the Maldivian Foreign Service. Notably, she had been nominated for ambassadorial positions under the previous administration as well.

In addition to her professional career, Midhfa Naeem is recognized for her distinguished academic background and her achievements during her student years. She previously earned national recognition for securing gold medals in inter-school singing competitions and achieving success in public speaking tournaments.
