Malé, Maldives – Former Vice President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Mohamed Shifaz, has warned that the party will mobilize at Muleeaage, the Presidential Palace, if Home Minister Ali Ihsaan is not arrested.

Speaking at an MDP protest march, Shifaz accused Minister Ihsaan of involvement in a fraudulent voter registration scheme benefiting the ruling Progressive National Congress (PNC). His remarks come after photos surfaced on social media allegedly showing Ihsaan in a Department of National Registration (DNR) meeting room, where a large number of forms were being processed for the PNC.

“The police should arrest Home Minister Ihsaan. As long as he remains a minister, the case of stealing citizens’ personal information cannot be properly investigated,” Shifaz stated.

He emphasized that if no action is taken against Ihsaan, the MDP will escalate their protests and gather at Muleeaage.

The allegations against Ihsaan, which he denies, have further intensified political tensions, with the MDP continuing its demonstrations against the government.
