MALÉ, Maldives – Two individuals have been arrested in Malé following a special police operation that uncovered 266.29 grammes of illicit narcotics and an undisclosed amount of cash. The arrests were made last Tuesday after a residence was searched under a court order.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Amjad Riqab, 36, from Bulaafaruge, Ga. Villingili, and Mohamed Naif, 28, from Morningstar, Sh. Noomara.

Operation Details

Police sources confirmed that the operation involved searching a house in the Galolhu ward of Malé. This search, conducted under a court order on Tuesday, led to the discovery of the aforementioned quantity of illicit narcotics and cash.

Court Proceedings

Both suspects appeared before the Criminal Court for a remand hearing. Amjad Riqab has been remanded for five days, while Mohamed Naif will remain in police custody until the conclusion of his trial.
