MALÉ, Maldives – A fire broke out today at an expatriate accommodation in Malé, specifically on the first floor of Malishaa in Maafannu. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service reported that the blaze was extinguished within half an hour, with no injuries recorded.

The MNDF stated that the report of the incident was received at approximately 14:54 local time today. Firefighters from the Malé Fire Station promptly responded to the scene, bringing the fire under control and extinguishing it completely within 30 minutes of their arrival.

No casualties were reported among residents or emergency responders. However, images from the scene indicate significant damage to the affected room. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed its presence and ongoing activities at the fire site following the incident.

This incident occurs two years after a fatal fire in 2022 at M. Nirufeshi, another expatriate residence in Malé. That incident involved two floors of crowded accommodation, resulting in the deaths of 10 expatriates.
