The Male’ City Council has officially announced that it will grant permission for the installation of large screens across various locations in the capital city to broadcast the upcoming FIFA World Cup matches. This move is intended to facilitate easy access for the public to enjoy the tournament in a communal setting.

According to the Council, the primary objective of this initiative is to create a festive and social environment for the youth and general public to celebrate the global football event. Interested parties wishing to set up public viewing areas are invited to submit their applications in compliance with the Council’s established guidelines, which are now open for public access.

To ensure minimal disruption to daily life, the Council has emphasized that these installations must not obstruct traffic or pedestrian pathways. Furthermore, maintaining noise levels within a reasonable limit to prevent public disturbance will be a key condition for the issuance of permits. Given the immense popularity of the World Cup in the Maldives, the Council’s decision is expected to be widely welcomed by fans across the capital.
