The Ministry of Health has announced that seven individuals have tested positive for measles in the Maldives so far this year. The cases have triggered immediate public health protocols to contain the potential spread of the virus.

In a statement shared with the media today, the Ministry confirmed that over 74 contacts have been identified in relation to these seven cases. Authorities are currently conducting case investigations to determine the source of the infections and are actively tracing and vaccinating high-risk contacts.

Health officials highlighted that the primary symptoms of measles include fever and the appearance of red rashes. The Ministry urged the public to seek medical attention without delay if such symptoms manifest. Furthermore, individuals visiting hospitals or health centers are advised to wear masks as a precautionary measure to mitigate further transmission.
