The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert for several central atolls, forecasting a significant deterioration in weather conditions across the region today. The alert covers the area between Lhaviyani Atoll and Alif Dhaal Atoll.

According to the national weather office, the alert is effective from 12:45 PM to 6:00 PM. During this period, the affected regions are expected to experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and wind gusts of up to 35 mph. Consequently, sea conditions are predicted to be rough.

The Maldives Meteorological Service, alongside the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), has urged mariners and those traveling by sea to exercise extreme caution. Authorities have strongly advised following all safety protocols and recommended that non-essential sea travel be postponed until conditions improve.
