MALE’, Maldives – Naushad Moosa, 30, of G. Malehiya 2 13-02, who was previously arrested in 2024 in connection with an incident of mosque damage, has been detained again. This latest arrest occurred after he was observed consuming food in a public place during daytime hours.
The Criminal Court has issued a remand order for Mr Moosa, mandating a 15-day detention period in connection with this recent offence.
Previous Offence
Mr Moosa’s prior arrest in 2024 related to an incident at Furugan Mosque. He was accused of scattering religious texts (Khatimus) throughout the mosque premises and causing damage to electrical boards and their connected adapters located near the Imam’s designated area.
It remains unclear whether a sentence was issued following his arrest for the mosque vandalism incident.
