The Ministry of Health has officially inaugurated the ‘Ithaa’ Information Management System, a digital platform designed to strengthen the nation’s social protection framework and enhance data security. The portal was launched during a special ceremony held at the Ministry today.

The system was inaugurated by the Minister of Health, Ghila Ali. Developed with the technical assistance of UNICEF Maldives, the ‘Ithaa’ portal aims to digitize all documentation related to social assistance requests and case management handled by the ministry. This digital transition covers the entire lifecycle of a case, from initial reporting to final resolution.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Ghila Ali noted that the portal is a significant milestone under the ‘Maldives 2.0’ initiative, guided by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. She emphasized the administration’s goal of digitizing citizen-centric services to ensure they are both rapid and accessible.

The Ministry expects the portal to drastically improve workflow efficiency by enabling seamless data verification via the Department of National Registration (DNR). Furthermore, the platform will facilitate better coordination between various state institutions and eliminate the reliance on paper files, thereby ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive public information.

By streamlining operations, the Ministry aims to build greater public trust. The portal will also allow call center staff to provide real-time updates to service seekers, addressing long-standing frustrations regarding information delays.
