MALÉ, DD MONTH YEAR – Maldives Immigration conducted a raid operation yesterday in Malé, resulting in the detention of sixteen expatriates found to be residing in the country without valid documentation. The operation, part of a series of enforcement actions targeting undocumented foreign workers, also led to the closure of an unlicensed food establishment.

Operation Details

Immigration officials confirmed that the raid focused on two accommodation blocks located on Firozumaage and Keneereemaage in the capital. A total of 113 expatriates were checked during the operation, leading to the detention of sixteen individuals for immigration violations.

Closure of Illegal Bakery

Among the premises inspected, authorities discovered a facility operating as an unauthorised bakery. The Maldivian Police Service reported that this establishment was engaged in the commercial production and sale of rotis without the requisite permits. Concerns regarding unhygienic conditions were also noted, leading to the immediate closure of the business.
