Ismail Sajid, the Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) at the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), has been dismissed from his position following an internal investigation into allegations of sexual harassment.
Mr. Sajid was suspended from his role late last month while an MMA committee investigated the complaint. The committee concluded that the allegations against him were proven, leading to his subsequent dismissal.
Background
Mr. Sajid was appointed as the Head of the FIU in August of last year. He succeeded Abdullah Ashraf, who was transferred to another department within the authority.
Prior to his tenure at the MMA FIU, Mr. Sajid served as a member of the Tax Appeal Tribunal, a position from which he later resigned.
