MALÉ, Maldives – The Maldives has officially entered its annual period of highest temperatures, with the Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) confirming that March and April typically represent the warmest months across the archipelago.

Meteorological Factors Contributing to Elevated Temperatures

The Met Office reported today that prevailing atmospheric conditions are contributing to significantly higher perceived temperatures. These conditions are characterised by reduced cloud cover, calmer winds, and increased humidity levels. This combination collectively amplifies the sensation of heat experienced, making the ‘feels like’ temperature notably higher than the actual air temperature.

Forecast and Current Temperature Readings

Forecasting for April indicates a strong likelihood of temperatures remaining above their seasonal average. Recent data published by the Met Office highlights Hulhulé as registering particularly high temperatures. While the measured air temperature in the Hulhulé area was 31.5 degrees Celsius, the perceived ‘feels like’ temperature reached 36.3 degrees Celsius. Similarly elevated temperatures are being observed in other regions throughout the country.
